The Guess Who/Bachman Turner Overdrive I’ve put these two together as the H.O.F should induct Canadians Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings for their body of work. Bachman played in both bands and Cummings was only in The Guess Who but co-wrote and sang lead on their hits. Here are some of The Guess Who’s hits; “American Woman,” “No Sugar Tonight,” “Undone,” “These Eyes,” “Laughing,” Share The Land,” “No Time” and “Hand Me Down World” and “Clap For The Wolfman.” You couldn’t turn on top forty rock radio in the early seventies without hearing them, and the F.M. hipster stations played them alongside The Grateful Dead. When Randy Bachman left The Guess Who he formed Bachman Turner Overdrive and the hits kept on coming with “Takin’ Care Of Business” “Let It Ride” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.” Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman both deserve to be in the hall. They’re the Canadian version of Lennon and McCartney. They still perform together occasionally as “The Bachman-Cummings Band” and p... Read more

They say that in some cases the sum is greater than its parts. In terms of rock bands this is often true. But what if the parts still did other things after it left the sum? Okay, that was convoluted, but with The Guess Who, we think that this statement holds some water.

Steadily popular Canadian group in the late 60's to mid-70's who've got a few enduring songs to their credit, something that always helps. Founding member Randy Bachman left in 1970 to form Bachman-Turner-Overdrive and if you could combine the two groups achievements they might be better qualified for a nomination, but the Guess Who have the more substantial résumé on their own, so if one is looked at it'd be them

Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman both deserve to be in the hall. They’re like the Canadian version of Lennon and McCartney. They still perform together occasionally.

Absolutely; Burton Cummings, Randy Bachman and crew offered a string of brilliant songs and social commentary hit the mark. "American Woman", was perhaps the best known smash, but also "Share the Land", "Hand Me Down World", "No Sugar/New Mother Nature", sold in the millions, amoung them.

Speaking as a less than thrilled Guess Who fan, what gives? I hope that in my life time, that Guess Who and Rush, get inducted in there. I'm curious, how many Canadian bands are in The Rock And Hall Of Fame, anyway?

It's hard to believe the Guess Who aren't already in. Burton Cummings has one of the best voices in rock and roll. They could rock out with "American Woman" and write great ballads like "These Eyes." "No Time" and "No Sugar Tonight" are 2 favorites of mine.
