Sat Nov 28 2009She was born August 6, 1911 and she died April 26, 1989. She starred in four shows. They were: I love Lucy, The Lucy-Desi comedy hour, the Lucy Show, and Here's Lucy. She even starred in one or two episodes of The Three Stooges. She married Desi Arnaz in 1940 and divorced him in 1960. One year later she married Gary Morton. She remained married to Morton until her death in 1989. She received thirteen Emmy Award Nominations and won four of them. Many of her fans were devastated on April 26 1989. I give Mrs.Ball a 4 star rating.

Sat Nov 28 2009I was sorry to hear that she was dead. I should have been suspicious as I haven't seen much about her lately.

Sat Feb 26 2005She didn't get full recognition as an actress, but as a comedienne she is the undisputed Queen of comedy. Her TV show, I Love Lucy is still running and still making people laugh. Miss ya Lucy!

Thu Sep 02 2004I can't say it enough: I LOVE Lucy! I believe we are kindred spirits. We are both redheads, we were born 70 years apart to the day, and we both love making people laugh. Yeah, I'm America's second favorite redhead--it's all thanx to Lucy!

Wed Jun 23 2004If there was ever a woman who made the eyes of a child light up and a smile form everytime they saw her it was Lucille Ball. I can remember staying up late many nights to catch I Love Lucy reruns and to have my parents tell me to go to bed. I would always wait until Lucy was finished before closing my eyes. At four and five years old Lucy was the role model of my life. I knew that nobody was funnier than her and I knew that nobody was ever going to be funnier than her. When all my other friends were watching cartoons I was watching Lucy and laughing the whole time. She created this clean, fun source of entertainment for me that I will forever remember. She is a huge part of my childhood. I have always admired her and I always will. She is the Queen of television. There will never be another Lucille Ball and it deeply saddens me that she is no longer on this earth to grace people with her talents. She has left a loving and warm legacy that will always be remembered for years to come. Lu... Read more

Thu Apr 15 2004I absolutely love Lucille. She was so funny, and had perfect timing. Her show paved the way for other sitcoms. It was wholesome, definitely something kids could watch, but it also contained good humor at the same time. Lucy Ricardo was always so sneaky, and always including her loyal sidekick, Ethel, in her schemes.

Sun Mar 21 2004A little goofy but it worked for her

Tue Dec 30 2003Lucille Ball is one of the funniest women on TV & if anyone has any doubt of her being a great actress ask anyone who knew or met her who could tell you that the real Lucille Ball was nothing like her wacky, goofy, fun-loving alter ego, Lucy Ricardo. In real life (from all ive heard & read about her) she was pretty grim, very serious & not always the nicest person to deal with, nevertheless its her comedic gifts & legendary TV show that she will always be loved & remembered for!

Sun Dec 21 2003Yes, she was funny, but on those TV shows of hers she was always getting herself into these awful messes. When I was a child, I Love Lucy reruns were on TV a lot, and the episode where the trophy got stuck on her head really frightened me. (Haven't felt the same about trophies since). Her husband Ricky just seemed too bossy and Fred Mertz seemed like a mean grouch. Ethel was OK, I guess.

Sat Dec 13 2003How can Lucy receive anything less than 5 stars? I would give her more if I could!

Sat Oct 18 2003Ok, I have to admit I've only seen one movie with Lucy in it, but I have seen ALL of her I LOVE LUCY episodes, and I can have no higher opinion of her. She's such a great actress, funny and charming.

Sat Oct 04 2003I think Lucille Ball is and always will be the queen of comedy. There are not many stars out there that can bring out the fun and laughs that Lucy did. She had that special touch that made what comedy is about.

Thu May 29 2003Lucille Ball was the best in everthing she did. I She is the one of the greatest women of all time. Lucy could act, she could could make people laugh, cry, and just touch everyones heart. This is my favorite actress/commedian I have ever seen. Not just on screen but in Lucy's life she was a very strong and brave woman and for that I look up to her in many ways. Lucille Ball deserves a 5 star rating.

Mon Mar 10 2003Great lady, great comedienne, great actress. Her TV shows were so funny and excellent, plus she did well in films and on Broadway.

Sun Mar 09 2003Lucille Ball was really more of a smash on television than in the movies. I have seen her in some movies usually in a "second billing" role playing the supportive friend. She really blossomed on television which allowed her to really showcase her comedic talent.

Wed Jan 22 2003Lucille was such a talented lady. She became very well known all around the world. I haven't met one person yet that either doesn't know her or doesn't like her. She was very pretty all the way till she passed on.

Thu Mar 21 2002I love Lucy, but I think she would have laughed at the very idea of herself as a "great actress".
by errol4e1
Thu Mar 21 2002I have to admit I never saw her in any movie that impressed me very much, but by the time she came to television she proved herself to be a comic genius. She was willing to let herself look foolish, and as a result became one of the most respected performers of all time. Next to Mabel Normand she is my all time favorite comedienne. I Love Lucy!

Thu Nov 01 2001A great actress. Lucy has been acting for many years before I Love Lucy, and she deserves to be the best Classic Actress ever!!!!!
by ellajedlicka21
Thu Nov 01 2001It is amazing that it has been over 50 years since the premiere of I Love Lucy. A hilarious actress. Her shows with Ricky on I Love Lucy are still funny as anything today, so many decades later. Lucille Ball's name is associated with early television.

Thu Nov 01 2001How can any body compare to Lucille Ball? She is the "one and only" Queen of Comedy. To think that I Love Lucy has been on TV for 50 years. How many TV shows can we say have been on for 50 years? Her wit and charm is greatly one of a kind and unique!!! This is what makes Lucille Ball the true meaning of a classic woman!!! HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY, LUCY!!!!!
by blondbombshell_l33
Thu Aug 23 2001She was hilarious! I could watch the same episode of I love Lucy over and over and still laugh every time!

Wed Jul 11 2001I've been studying everything I could find about Lucy since the first time I saw "I Love Lucy" (I was about 4 then. I am 16 now.) She is truly one of the greatest actresses ever on TV. Not only in I Love Lucy, but also in other shows and her many movies. Her personal story behind the TV's Lucy is also worth knowing. She was incredible...a great inspiration.

Mon Jul 02 2001For the most part I would give Lucille Ball a four rating. She is a great commedienne.I loved her work in I Love Lucy.she is especially good at physical comedy. But not all of her work has been great. i agree with Castlebee that some of her movies were not so good. Especially Mame. I read that she had that role because she bought the rights to the movie. but really she was too old for that role. and singing is not one of her strong points. But when it comes to comedy, she is one of the best.If I had to pick my top ten women for comedy, she would make the list.

Mon Jul 02 2001Lucy is the all-time Queen of common-man humour. She did slapstick with perfect precision and timing. Her "other" work (the B-movie) stuff, just was not her element. I STILL watch these shows, and STILL laugh, even thought I have seen "VitaMeataVegamin" at least 500 times. Delivery is EVERYTHING! And she had it down to a science.
