I know that Joe is all business. He has been since I met him in junior high school in 1976. Always friendly, personal and no-nonsense, even as a teenager. We knew he'd go far, but despite that, he's still achieved greatness in all that he has done far above our (classmates) expectations. Just because he doesn't dye his hair different colors or like alot of publicity or "fireworks", Joe will succeed in anything that he does--you can trust him and count on him.

you cant blow a #2 pick on darko, that was the biggest bust of all time, you coulda had dwane (better pg than chauncy) and it doesnt matter if tay wouldnt be as good coz you would have melo who is much better if you woulda drafted him or you coulda had bosh who will be way better thank darko plus he shouldnt get credit for ben wallace or rip coz ben was a nobody and rip was there before also the reason the pistons won was larry brown not dumars if he can keep a team together long term the way the lakers did for 5 years or the way the spurs are he should and will recieve more credit, also you keep giving dumars credit for the way the team is playing thats not him thats larry brown, larry coaches the team

Darko was a big mistake...but what if you picked mello? Would Tayshaun be as good as he is today. There is still time for Darko to grow. Everything Joe has done has been good. Signing Rip to a long term contract...getting sheed...and ultimately winning the championship. There is not a better GM in the game today. Some people said he would slide...but if the Pistons win half of their remaining games it will be another 50 win season. The Pistons don't need to win 65 games a year to be good. They have already proved that. They will win another championship.

Still not sure about the Darko pick, but Dumars brought Dtown its 3rd championship and this years team is gaining momentum, playing hard nosed defense and great team ball. He was a great player for us, and now a great GM. I guess if we're winning rings, who cares if Darko is riding the pine. Overall very happy with where the Pistons have gone since Dumars took the job and the future looks bright.

A better GM than a lot of guys there, but he's a liability that will soon be fired. He's made a lot of silly and amateur decisions, which include among them firing Rick Carlisle and selected Darko Milicic with the number 2 pick in the draft. There was also the Mateen Cleaves debacle earlier. Dumars has gotten lucky so far with his pick of Rick Carlisle, who proved an exceptional coach, especially with a team of scrubs. However, firing him, regardless of whether or not his personality clashed with the team, has arguably sent this team on a downslide. Ignore the fact that the Pistons won a championship last season; the trade that sent Rasheed here saved this team, as it noticeably began a terrible losing streak before then. Now that Rasheed has his contract and no longer feels the need to play hard, Carlisle's system that Brown is riding off of is slowing beginning to show it's age. The Pistons are really playing terribly following last year's epic win, and I can't say I'm surprised. I'... Read more

Who needs guys like Jerry Stackhouse when you can have more humble and modest players (excluding Rasheed)? I was crushed, as a piston fan when I saw traded Jerry Stackhouse and Christian Latner. I thought we were dead but he knew that Jerry had peaked and Christian was old, basicly my biased opinion is that Joe Dumars is the best general manager in the NBA

Joe Dumars has so far made all the right moves for the Pistons leading up to the championship. The Pistons will continue to get better as they have a great mix of youth and veteran leadership. The Pistons will be the new dynasty in the NBA and the reason is Joe Dumars.

Widely criticized for selecting Darko over Carmelo, Joe Dumars showed that he knows more than the media. The guy that Carmelo would have taken minutes from, Tayshaun Prince, is a big reason that the Pistons were able to win the NBA championship. With the development of Darko, this team should be solid for years to come - whether or not Rasheed stays.
