The Zombies
Aside from the Beatles and perhaps the Beach Boys, no mid-'60s rock group wrote melodies as gorgeous ...

Tue Oct 29 2013This British invasion group had a string of top 40 hits and lead by Rod Argent who went on to form the band Argent and tour with Ringos Starrs all Starr band.

Fri Aug 09 2013Surprisingly, it is not uncommon for a musician to have their biggest hit after they passed away. We wonder if the Zombies could identify on some level, as they achieved their biggest success after they disbanded. The Zombies were part of the British Invasion and like their compatriots they sought fame and fortune in the United States

Mon Jan 21 2013On the surface one acclaimed album along with a few hit singles in the 60's don't make them any more likely an induction than two dozen others from that era, but their image and reputation since that time has grown considerably, giving the voters who fawn over that period in rock an excuse to consider yet another.

Sun Jan 06 2013These minor key master should be inducted. Their early singles were sophiticated and miles ahead of what anyone else was doing. Blunstone is one of Rock's most underrated vocalists. Listen to 'She's Not There' and tell me anything sounded like that in 1964.

Tue Nov 29 2011The Zombies are an English rock band, formed in 1961 in St Albans and led by Rod Argent, on piano and keyboards, and vocalist Colin Blunstone. The group scored a UK and US hit in 1964 with "She's Not There". In the USA two further singles, "Tell Her No" and, in 1968, "Time of the Season", were also successful.[1] Their 1968 album Odessey and Oracle, comprising twelve songs by the group's principal songwriters, Argent and Chris White, is ranked 80 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.[2]

Mon Oct 10 2011I hate this list because the Rock n' Roll HOF really sucks. It's saturated w/people who shouldn't really be in there, and who exactly votes these people in. Anyway, just rating the Zombies as an artist, they get 5 stars. I saw them again last month, and it was an excellent concert. Probably my favorite 60's band. Colin Blunstone has a great voice, and Rod Argent writes great songs and is underrated a keyboardist. Any of their greatest hits albums are a good introduction, but there is much more to the Zombies than 'Time of the Season,' 'Tell Her No,' and 'She's Not There.' Some of my favorite tracks off the top of my head are 'Kind of Girl,' 'Leave Me Be,' 'Hung up on a Dream,' 'Care of Cell 44.' Just great pop-rock music w/a unique sound.

Fri Jul 24 2009I was a bigger fan until I re0listened to Oddysey & Extacy. Just think they may be a little over rated compared to other British Bands still not in (HOLLIES anyone?). My opinion.
by devasic1
Thu Apr 23 2009Like the Hollies, their best 60s hits have stood the test of time, especially Time of the Season, one of the greatest anthems of the 60s. Again like the hollies, a lot better, original and influential then the Dave Clark Five! Let em already HOF!

Mon Apr 06 2009I don't see any reason they shouldn't be in by now. Their melodies were catchy and haunting at the same time. Rod Argent's keyboards were in the forefront of the musicianship and Colin Blunstone (doesn't that sound like a name on The Flintstones?) had a unique baritone (sensitive and deadpan at the same time). Their hits include "Tell Her No" and "She's Not There" but there was more to them than just the hits if you listened to their albums. It's the "Time Of The Season" to induct the Zombies!

Wed Sep 03 2008The Zombies were absolutely among the best bands of their time. Look at all the bands who have covered their songs. That is the greatest tribute of all. When other bands love to play your songs, that indicates that they are well above ordinary. Their records are super and they were great live!

Mon Jul 07 2008Waiting for These guys to get the Kudos They deserve Put Them In The Hall If the DC5 belong then so does the Zombies
by moose74
Thu Jun 19 2008The Zombies should be in the Hall, first of all, because they were not only part of the initial British Invasion, they were among those British groups at the time puttiing out worthwhile music. (Others that fit that decription, the Beatles, the Stones, the Animals, the DC5, and the Kinks, are already in). In my opinion, other groups that crossed the "pond" at that time were more geared toward teeny boppers and do not deserve consideration, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, Herman's Hermits, and Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders fit that description. The Zombies do not fit that category.. "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No" were both fine hit songs. At the end of the '60's, just before they broke up, they produced the critically-acclaimed album "Odessey and Oracle" which included the classic hit "Time of the Season." It should also be mentioned that Rod Argent was, along with the Animals' Alan Price, one of the two best keyboard players from the Invasion. This band was breaking n... Read more

Sat May 10 2008The Zombies are back on the road again. I don't know the exact personel lineup or all the dates. But, I do know that at friend of mine in the Blues Magoos told me that they will be opening for Zombies in NYC.Hoping like hell Colin and Rod are both back in.

Sun Mar 30 2008A singularly amazing group, who were putting out world class rock within a year or so of getting their first guitars. Egos busted them up far too early. In the class of the Beatles if they'd stayed together, seriously. They created fabulous sounds, fabulous. Man! What music the world lost when they broke up!

Sat Dec 29 2007I think it's horrible that they've not been inducted. Their music is timeless, and for that era, was truly ahead of its time. Colin's sexy, breathy voice, was truly one-of-a-kind. And Rod's keyboard playing, was phenomenal. To top that off, they still rock today.

Sat Sep 23 2006The Zombies are way ahead of their time!!! Rock music during those days only used 4 notes, no minors, half, or the 7th notes & no acapella which The Zombies were always using.
by urethramiacin
Wed Dec 28 2005Always underappreciated by the industry. Their output was not extensive (of course, neither was Cream's and they were put in) but their influence was. Colin Blunstone is one of the greatest vocalists in rock history.

Sat Dec 17 2005An amazing band whos limited output has caused them to be overlooked for years but odessey & oracle is one of the best albums ever recorded

Fri Jul 15 2005A unique band for the time era they were in. Very versatile and eclectic.

Thu Mar 24 2005very innovative but at the time grossly underrated band, whose (self-penned) remain eminently listenable; among discerning music lovers the band is more popular now than ever before.
