Fri Oct 14 2011The most orginal of all Rock Groups. Amazing melodic voice with meaningful and feeling based lyrics. The CURE deserve it over any band. Listen to one song and Twighlight Zone yourself back to the enrergy and feelings of those days. Of course I love them I discovered them at age 15 and I am still a fan. "I will always Love You Robert Smith".

Fri Jul 09 2010Well, for starters the Cure have been going at it for well over 25 years; their first was in 1979... I think, as a band, the Cure really has it all. Look at how dynamic, how versatile and rich their eras of music were. You have the 1980-1982 'gothic' era, a beautiful descent into darkness and chaos starting with the sterile Seventeen Seconds, the calm, eloquent and immensely atmospheric Faith, finally ending in the artful discord of Pornography. You have the psychedelic and surreal progression of the Top all the way through to Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, with a few high hitting pop singles thrown in. You have Disintegration, where perhaps more than any other album in the world (in my opinion) you can FEEL the music. The title track for example; Robert's voice frays and cracks and becomes more and more frantic as the whole thing begins to come apart. You don't listen to Disintegration so much as you live through it. Wish; another masterpiece. Turn off the lights and listen. Wish s... Read more

Wed Aug 26 2009What's the criteria? Number of Albums? Album sales? Concert tickets sold? INFLUENCE on music? Years as a functioning band? Perhaps the Hall of Shame should stop listening only to bubble gum music.

Thu Apr 23 2009One of the most important and influential bands in all of alternative rock. A career that spans decades, contains many different musical styles, indie cred, and mainstream hits. Incredibly foward thinking with production, texturing and guitar playing. The amount of bands influenced or at least helped by this band's mainstream acceptance in incalculable!

Sat Oct 20 2007They should have been in 5 years ago. They have great shows and they have been very influential on many newer bands such as the bravery, interpol and the must.

Sat Feb 24 2007No shot right now, but once the emo craze starts to fade they will be looked at as its primary influence and have a better chance.

Wed Feb 14 2007"janitor x" (the best amateur critic I have read) might say they were the second worst band ever, but the Cure's music remains very listenable today. Robert smith's distinctive voice might be an attraction, but their music possesses no distinctive qualities the make them that deserving of the Hall. Nonetheless, given their slow acceptance by US audiences, the time when The Cure get in may well occur, but not immediately. Someone I asked said they have simply no chance to get in - I am not 100 percent on that myself.

Sun Jan 01 2006This is a band whose influence is not going to be fully felt for some time for two reasons:(1.) they are still very much active and (2.) they are having considerable impact on more recent bands like Radiohead, The Bravery and Bloc Party who all still have careers ahead of them to be weighed in the balance. The success of these other bands may well influence the chances of them getting inducted.

Sun Dec 04 2005Since Joy Division will never make it. The Cure is the most likely Goth band, even though they aren't really goth.

Wed Oct 26 2005I can't believe they aren't into the top ten on this list. They have continued to put out great music for 25 years. A travesty. They should be the only band allowed for the 80's until you get to Guns and Roses.
