Sat Feb 06 2010If you ask me, this instant "shake in a box" is no where near as good as a real shake made the old fasioned way. Of course if you told some teenager to make a shake using a shake machine, real icecream, and flavored syrup he would go into convulsions and have a seizure trying to figure out how to do it properly and it would take 20 minutes.

Wed Oct 21 2009Does not taste like there is a drop of MILK or any other substance from Nature in it.

Tue Oct 20 2009People from this site should do McDonald's commercials. " MA Duron here, and this delightfully dimwitted fellow is my new crony Grimace! I am here to sing the praises of McDonald's shakes as if I were a veritable Apollo of fast food! These immortal shakes are worthy of praise of The Bard himself, who unfortunately cannot be here with Grimace and I, for the exalted master of English plays and sonnets died in 1616, over three and one half centuries before the advent of The Shamrock Shake...."

Mon May 05 2008I think McDonalds has decent shakes. The only drawback is lack of selection of flavors, but on a hot day Ive been known to run through the drive through and order a vanilla shake.

Thu Jun 14 2007At first I loved the chocolate shakes but the last ones I have tried were horrible. There was too much chocolate added to the shake. A lot of times there is strawberry mixed in with it because if someone had a strawberry shake before mine then their machine will spit out some strawberry shake into the bottom of the cup. They even disclose this under the ingredients. They add that when eggnog is being used egg ingredients may be present.

Wed Feb 21 2007They're not bad, don't get me wrong...but...they make me sick. I'd rate them higher if it weren't for that little fact.

Wed Apr 26 2006The Arctic Orange shakes are THE BEST!!! But, like so many food items I love (this includes shamrock shakes also), they are available "for a limited time only". (And when they are available, they are only at a few McDonald's.) I love the vanilla and strawberry flavors too. My son loves chocolate.

Thu Dec 29 2005I happen to enjoy small ones. They get cold after a while, so i switch from this to something else after a bit.

Thu Dec 29 2005I've heard they're called "shakes" because they don't have enough milk to legally call them "milkshakes." In any case, they're ghastly.

Mon Oct 17 2005When you can't stand another fizzy-sweet *belch* echoing around the back of your throat, you can reach for the chill-coated calm that only a fast-food milkshake brings. This is one of the few areas where McDonald's has actually improved upon one of its staples. Six years ago, they were sandy and salty, dissolving into slush within 20 minutes of having them handed to you (regardless of flavor preference). After receiving a slew of complaints (I certainly did MY part), they announced a change marketed as "triple thick", and it lived up to its billing; colder, creamier, and with more-intense flavoring (especially with the chocolate). HATED the gimmicky show pitches (that damned clear-plastic, open-top igloo with the spoon sticking out of it; repeated e-mails to the company failed to clean the stains out of my car's carpeting after one too many spills), but the shake remains solid to this day. Not the best (the Wendy's Frosty is the de facto standard, but you can't use a straw with it) or ... Read more

Thu Jul 14 2005The shakes are good, but way too thick. I would have to suck on the straw really hard to sip it up. I usually prefer the strawberry shake, but cherish the shamrock shake for a limited time. The prices for shakes are getting rediculus.

Fri Mar 05 2004Tastes like potato flakes mixed with motor oil, with a bit of flavouring thrown in.
by kolby1973
Wed Feb 25 2004Once again, McDonald's is NOT Dairy Queen, give it up people ! Stick with burgers, as that is all you really know...
by moosekarloff
Tue Jul 08 2003This is nothing more than lard, i.e., animal fat, whipped together with loads of sugar and artificial flavorings. Yummie!!!
by jimmyinatlanta
Mon Jun 30 2003Never cared for their shakes at all.
by redoedo
Sat May 31 2003I used to consider McDonald's shakes to be rather bland and probably would've given them a 3, but with their recent "upgrades", they taste much better and actually taste a bit more like real milkshakes. Of course, they pale in comparison to the almighty Shake N' Steak.

Mon May 12 2003These are atll good and it's about the only thing on that menu.
