Floyd Mayweather Jr. showed good sense in turning down a fight with Antonio Margarito a while back. He can box, and like Miguel Cotto he might have held off Margarito for a few rounds but he simply just doesn't have enough firepower to hurt Margarito. He should stay retired but he won't. I still feel that he didn't deserve the number one pound for pound ranking. That belonged to Manny Pacquiao.

mayweather knows who he can beat.he can beat a fat chicken dela hoya in his sleep.dela hoya has no fight left.he needs to prove to the people that he can beat shane mosley and miguel cotto.pretty boy is pretty but only because he fights suckers like zab judah and dela hoya.hatton turned out to be a fake action hero.until he beats mosley or cotto the book is still out on him

Can't say I like the guys attitude but that takes nothing away from his skills he has them all and if he keeps his head together will go down as a boxing legend.

I don't think there is any question that Pretty Floyd Mayweather IS the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world today. As talented as the other two candidates are for best p4p (Winky Wright and Manny Pacquiao), Mayweather has impressive wins over Diego Corrales, Arturo Gatti and Zab Judah, not to mention two very close decisions against Jose Luis Castillo. (Now add Carlos Baldomir in that list.) However, it remains to be seen if Mayweather can keep his lofty perch as he has a potential date with either Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya (or potentially both). If the Pretty Boy can get past both great fighters, he may very well be considered one of the great fighters ever (a tall order, undoubtedly). But as it stands, Floyd Mayweather is atop the boxing world (at least for the moment). Update 12/9/07: After a relatively uninspiring win against Oscar Dela Hoya, it's nice to see that Mayweather performed brilliantly and compellingly against the game and unorthodox Ricky Hatton. The gre... Read more

Mayweather is a very quick skillful boxer but I feel that he normally goes for semi quick sluggers; they are no match for his quickness and skill as a boxer. His last fight against  Del La Hoya showed his weaknesses in the ring and I truley beleive that De La Hoya deserved the win!!! . I look forward to seeing Mayweather Vs Hatton and feel that Mayweather will be fighting someone completely different to what he is use to!!! Hatton will bully the fight with quick hard hitting punches, something Mayweather has never really had. There is no denying that he is a class fighter and that he is a champion. But I just don't think he is the best, as many would claim him to be!!!

I would've gave him 5 stars because he's one of the most talented in the ring but outside the ring he's an asshole.

Aright, thats probably because Tyson has a good 80+ pounds on Mayweather...Tyson's one of my favorite boxers of all time, but his time is done (unless he really wants to come back and fight Tarver)and so it's time to crown Mayweather as the new king of boxing...its true, he has a big mouth, but he can back it up with sweat and blood...the only reason he doesn't bleed in the ring on fight night is because he bleeds in the gym months before each fight, sparring 12-15 rounds with different sparring partners...bottom line is, people are way too concerned with his mouth and not concerned enough about what's really important--his boxing abilities

You got to give it to him...The boy has skills...He just needs to test himself against quality competition...He is truly the future of boxing...That is why I want to see him fight the best contenders out there before he is to old to do so...He is in his prime and there is a lot of competition out there...From Hatton, to Judah, to Mosley, and to Wright...He needs to make one of these fights soon...if not I gotta change my rating.

His demolition of Arturo Gatti was nothing short of masterful. An extremely smart and technical fighter with decent power and the fastest hands in the boxing world for quite a while.

after seeing his fight with corlley (or wutever his name is), my view of mayweather has completly changed. he actually CAN slug it out, he CAN take a punch, and he IS as good as he says he is. he needs to start being more active to prove that he truely is the best.

Everytime I see this guy fight I am shocked, he is that good. I used to figure he would get ruined in the higher weight classes but in his last couple fights he showed he has all the tools. No wonder the guy is so damn arrogant, he has a right to be!

One of the best boxers in the sport today who is still young. This kid is the truth that gives boxing a future right now. Once Roy, Bernard, and Oscar retire this is who we are left with. Floyd will take everybody from lightweight to junior middleweigt.

Heir apparent to RJJ as p4p king. He's probably a better all around fighter than Roy because of better fundamentals and he fights the best fighters in his weight class on a more consistent basis.

PBF has the potential to be an all-time great. His defense, timing and ring awareness are unearthly. Already his list of guys he's beaten is pretty damned impressive. When was the last time he fought a joke opponent? Even guys he takes as 'tune-ups' are better than what most other elites face.

FLOYD HAS MORE HATERS THAN ANY MAJOR FIGHTER OTHER THAN TYSON(& TYSON EARNED HIS).MOST OF FLOYD'S BAD PRESS COMES FROM ALL THE NEGATIVE TAKES ON HIS FIGHTS BY THAT TRIO OF LOSER'S THAT HBO CALLS COMMENTATORS!!THEY ACTUALLY THOUGHT JESUS CHAVEZ WAS FORCING HIM TO THE ROPES,WHEN ANY SEASONED OBSERVER COULD TELL FLOYD WAS LETTING HIM PUNCH HIMSELF OUT.HIS REMATCH WITH CASTILLO SETTLED ANY DOUBT & WAS MUCH MORE CLEARCUT THAN THE JUDGES GAVE HIM CREDIT FOR.HIS CHANCES VS.DELAHOYA ARE SLIM,BUT HE EASILY BEATS THE SLOW-AS-MOLASSES TSZYU & WOULD EXPOSE MAYORGA AS THE ONE-DIMENSIONAL SLUGGER HE IS!!!

I gave Mayweather Jr. credit as a good boxer till the IDIOT actually thought he was ready to take on De La Hoya. In the REAL boxing world, The Golden Boy would probably kill the poor big headed fool. I'm not worried though, I got the feeling someone in the near future is gonna shut that big mouth up.

Can be exciting like the Deigo Corralles match up but his last outings against Chavez and the two Castillo fights were boring technical defensive matches. It wins fights but too much can lose a fighter a lot of respect. Why do you think Winky Right can't get a big fight. It's just frustrating to watch some guy dancing a way and slapping away at his opponents with little arm shots.Man this guy has some slick moves though lightning quick with hands and feet.

I saw Pretty Boy fight Jesus Chavez last night, and he was extremely impressive. His defense was awesome - he rarely took a clean shot, and was able to dance away from the constantly attacking Chavez. He also fought a smart fight. For five rounds or so, he let Chavez chase him around the ring, rarely responding to the constant punches that Chavez threw. By the sixth round or so, Chavez started to tire - and that's when Mayweather pounced. Mayweather was never in trouble, and just seemed to be in total control of the fight. I'd love to see him get the Prince...

Yo whats up with you people, dont you guys know talent when ya see it? I mean just because he wears gold chains and dances around in the ring it dosen't mean the guy cant fight... yo this guys hasn't lost a round in 3 years give hime a break... I agree that he haven't fought anybody extremly great yet, but it dosen't matter cause he has the WBC belt anyway. Yo the bottom line is that all you cats thats rating these guys cant beat him, the Prince would get his ass kick if he steps to him.... yo the Person ya need to talk bad about is Hector Camacho JR...now thats the meaning of over rated u heard...Halla

Mayweater is a great boxer...He proved it against Deigo Corrales, and he wants to prove it against the Prince. But the Punk doesn't want it. Speed combined with power, now that's rare nowadays. His up there on my top five list...Of course Tito is first, than Mayweather, Zab Judah, Barrera, and finally Morales.....Mayweather is special...He won't get beat for a while.....Maybe he needs to fight Casamayor to really test his skills

The fastest and most accurate puncher in the sport. The only thing that dose not make him in the league with Jones is his punch power. Floyd is above average in power, but is the all time with his speed. He wont get beat because his skill and speed will dominate opponents on score cards, he wont get knocked out because of reflexis he will never get caught flush with any punch. And this guy who gave him a 1 star dont rate if you not going to be realistic. Its Boxing your supposed to be cocky dumb ass.
