Fri Jun 24 2011We switched from AT & T to Road Runner about 6 mos ago. For the last 2 months I have had nothing but trouble gettin online. I called tech support and they had me check the router box etc. (we have the bundle, cable, phones and internet). No help at all! Sometimes it takes me up to an hour to connect and if I'm really luck the connection lasts about 2 hours and then I'm back to trying to get online once again. My husband and I are canceling the service and going back to AT&T. We live in San Diego, CA (someone said if you live in a large city you have no problems) and we experience this problem not once in awhile but every day, several times a day.

Fri Jun 17 2011When it's actually up, you have seemingly flawless speed. But that's about the only thing positive about this crap internet service. Like many people have said before, I'll go random periods lasting anywhere between 30 minutes to a few weeks without internet or if I'm lucky active internet which is extremely slow and choppy. You call for help, and they simply go through the same routine which goes a little like this: check your modem. Not working? Gonna send someone....One week later... Everything's fine, thanks for your cash. Leaves. Two days later, same problems show up! The problem is in Time Warner itself, and not you. They just try and make you believe it is your hardware so that they can continue to leech your hard-earned money off of you. It's obvious these corporate a-holes are just in it for the money. They don't care about you. They think you're just a dumb, poor, and scared jackass who's too stupid to even care. My dad has had AT&T for over a year, and hasn't had a singl... Read more

Wed Jan 19 2011It's pretty cheap, and comes bundled with my TV and Phone services. Don't get me wrong here, my TV and phone are working absolutely perfectly. But my internet? 5 Mb/sec is the "supposed" download speed , which is really bad to begin with (American fiber optic ISPs usually get about 25 Mb/sec download AND upload, and that's STILL way less than other countries) but then you have to deal with throttling. My upload speed doesn't even hit 1 Mb/sec, which is horrific. Then we get to the disconnecting. I hear this story all over the country; at random times everyone's internet goes down. Literally, the moment my internet goes down I'll get texts from friends I have all over the west coast, including my neighbors, all of southern California, northern California, Washington, etc. I can't take it anymore, but I'm JUST outside most coverage areas for most internet service providers, so I guess I'm stuck with it forever.

Mon Dec 13 2010I had Road Runner since 2002 . It was fine , if you avoided the support system. In August I paid my September bill online like I always did. Two weeks later they shut me down. I called and they said my card number did not go through. They took the numbers again and told me they would remove any extra charges. A couple of weeks later I was shut off again. I called and they took the numbers again. I was never late with a payment and my bank said they were never contacted to extract funds for Time Warner. When I gave them the numbers they turned it back on and one week later they shut me down again and told me I was blocked until I cleared this up. I went to the local Time Warner shop and told them the story, but they said it was not there problem. The card I used was good and funds were there. They , some how , goofed up the numbers to get money from my account. I quit and paid my last payment. They sent me a notice to pay extra charges for their mistake. I contacted them and they said ... Sat Nov 20 2010Okay connection speed. Terrible service - call it Customer No Service. Representatives cannot handle any but the easiest problems, they don't listen or try to understand issues, spend all their time shifting responsibility to other departments, blaming the third-party suppliers - even though Road Runner hired them, and doing everything they can to dodge the problem and get the customer off the phone as soon as possible. If you have an issue more complicated than an 10-year old can solve, you can expect them to be ignorant, unempowered and completely unwilling to help you. Not even worth the single star.

Wed Sep 15 2010Absolutely horrible do not get this if you have other ISP's in your area like Verizon. I had Roadrunner for approximately 1 year and my speed was 1.5 MB down and at first worked perfectly fine but after a while it just started lagging and just had many problems with the connection and the Modem. I would rarely get 1.5 MB the only time I got that speed was during the morning but once the afternoon came my connection would drop to as low as 500KB and once night time hit it would drop to as low as 50KB basically dial up connection pretty much rendering it unusable. I called them multiple times and they came and said everything was perfectly fine. Don't get me wrong I understand how cable Internet works (being a shared connection) I just didn't it would be this bad. I also had many problems with the modem it would just stop working and I would have to disconnect it for like 30 seconds and then plug it back in for it to work again I went through 3 modems and all of them are basically ... Sat Aug 28 2010This company SUCKS! I have had them out to my house 5 times to fix a problems and still the internet varies so much in speed that it will lock my computer out or boot me out of online gaming. Customer service could care less and gives me the same speech each time. I was told that the problem was in the "hub" a mile away and they would fix it. NOT! Called back and yet again they want to send someone to my home. The problem is that this company has a MONOPOLY in my area. I can't get anything else. I have had them for years with no problems. I used to be able to run 3 XBOX's and two computers. Now I am lucky if I can run one computer. THEY DO NOT CARE ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR BUSINESS

Wed Jun 02 2010This company is absolutely horrible. Avoid at all costs. I've been disputing with them about internet problems(I get EXTREME periods of lag) for a year and a half now. I've called about 20 times at least, and have had 6-7 techs out here, who had no idea what the problem is. All they say is "I'll tell my boss". I've finally got a number of THE boss, but you know what he told me? "I'll tell my boss to investigate the problem." This company is a rusty, slow, poorly managed buracracy, and you should avoid it at all costs. Although, when the internet is working, it isn't bad. But I get these massive lag spikes at peak hours, every night. It's horrible. I cannot describe in words how horrible this company is.

Sat Apr 10 2010Road Runner's once excellent service has degraded to long wait times, script reading call takers with little ability to understand or resolve any but the most basic problems. I've made three calls on still unresolved issues with the web mail spam filters and issues with spam emails with malformed headers making it into my inbox while emails from contacts and allowed senders continues to be placed in the spam folder. One call was supposedly to level 2 support. None of them seemed familiar with the webmail interface or what the various options did. The calls totaled close to three hours on the phone, all but about fifteen minutes on hold. A call to the sales office got me to a guy who was very nice but had no contacts for escalation of the issue. As a webmail service, Road Runner's interface, function and spam filtering capabilities is significantly inferior to that of the Yahoo-based service provided by ATT. Even though they cost more than their competitors, I purchased and kept Road R... Read more

Sat Apr 10 2010You can see that all the people that have rated this service terrible or bad all have the same stories and problems when it comes to internet connection which means one thing; they're not lying and RR is crap. I am currently sharing RR with someone and I get the same problems everyone has said before. You get huge spikes of slow connection ranging from every 5-10minutes that can last 10-15 minutes. I asked the owner of the service to contact tech support but they say since it only happens to my computer they would have to charge ME to fix the problem. Are they serious? The owner didn't use his computer as much so was completely clueless to the problem so he thought it was fine. Road Runner is garbage. Don't waste your money on a company that doesn't care about the quality of their product and the satisfaction of their customers. Be warned people; look at all the negative reviews and you can tell the problems and stories all correspond. Shame on this company. I've read over a ... Read more

Fri Jan 15 2010I recently moved to Wisconsin and previously had Verizon FiOS - by far one of the best internet providers/speed reliability combinations out there. Unfortunately FiOS is not available here...so I opted for Road Runner HSI 7mbps/768kbps. In the beginning it was pretty good...speedtest.net rated it for its complete worth, averaging 5-7mbps down. However, its been a few months and the speeds have dropped DRASTICALLY. I'm now averaging 1-2mbps down/0.5mbps up. Internet reliability has been choppy as well, forcing me to restart the wireless router several times a week, sometimes even 2 or 3 times a day. Tried calling customer service, no dice. Very unhelpful people. I wish there was a reasonable, well-known company that provided an alternative. AT&T does but their speeds are too slow. It is really that hard to send constant speeds at the rate which I'm paying $xx per month for?? What a rip-off!! Getting less than 30 percent of the speed I pay for for the same price.

Wed Dec 23 2009TERRIBLE! Absolutely TERRIBLE! If only I could find words to describe how bad it is. I have been having RoadRunner for the last 2 years hoping they will one day fix all the internet problems I have been having. First of all - they will provide used wireless routers which were probably rejected by customers because they don't work. After that, when you complain to them that the router doesn't work, they will tell you that it is actually a problem with your computer. I have 3 computers at home (not 1, not 2, but 3).. but somehow, they will still insist that all 3 of my computers don't work. Every 5 mins, my internet connection seems to go down. If I try to upload something, the connection will go down for the next 5 minutes. Even if I'm not uploading, it seems to keep having these intermittent spikes when there will be no internet connection. Even dial up is better than this! I have decided to stop this service and go with a fiber optic cable solution.

Sun Dec 13 2009Well I've had RR ever since they took over Comcast. Had multiple times of disconnects, lots of calls to Customer Support. It wasn't until I added Digital Phone that all hell broke loose. Every other day I would lose internet+phone, had techs out about every 4 days. Turns out that even though I had internet for the past 10 years, TWC had no record of me having an internet account. Was able to get my IP, register my MAC addresses, everytime I called tech support about my internet they were able to pull up my account fine. Now whenever you make a change to your account in between billing cycles, they bill you for the previous cycle AND THE NEW CYCLE!! So basically you're paying for 2 months in one bill. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ Last Result: Download Speed: 30523 kbps (3815.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 493 kbps (61.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Mon Nov 30 2009HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. no one will take responsibility for anything. I've been here 3 years and keep encountering the same number of outages. they first made me feel it was my equipment, so I purchased a new router. they made me feel it was my PCs. that won't work cos I've got 2 and on occasion, 3. they have rewired the inside of my apartment 3 times with the SAME malfunctions as they've always had. they're rewired my entire building. they've traded out modems twice (so now this is the third modem in three years) and i have the cell phone of one "bigshot" guy who is so upset that i call him he won't answer me any more. NO ONE takes responsibility for anything. i told one bigshot there that when i worked for someone as an employee, if i didn't get problems straightened out, i wouldn't be working there for long. he had the juevos (avocados) to say, "Well, am I supposed to comment on that?" He went on to say that well, if that's what someone's jo... Read more

Sun Sep 06 2009When TWC's Road Runner works, it is great, but have a problem that isn't a quick fix and you will spend hours, days, weeks and months attempting to get ANYONE at TWC to actually HELP with the situation. It has been FOUR MONTHS of intermittent internet service and probably close to 20 service calls without any change in the issue. They send independent contractors who don't know more than rudimentary fixes and it that doesn't work, they leave you experiencing the same problem. I even had one service tech who came and when I said it was an intermittent connection issue, he said it was working fine and LEFT WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING!!! Dolt - do we not KNOW what INTERMITTENT MEANS??? So, should you have no problems crop up as I have, you will love the speed of TWC's Road Runner internet. If you have any odd issues, I warn you, it will be months and months of dealing with customer service, service techs and the results will drive you insane, which may be what they are going for...I don... Mon Aug 17 2009Ok, I just posted a really bad review about AT&T DSL, and thought i'd write the complete opposite for Time Warner Cable Internet. I am your average consumer that uses internet for downloading music, movies, playing the occasional geek game over the internet, nothing too fancy!! I've had roadrunner for almost a total of 3 1/2 years now, decided i'd try AT&T DSL, well if you want to read about that you can check it out, but Time Warner is the best. I called and was so upset about AT&T, Time Warner came out to my apartment in about 4 hours, hooked up my Cable Internet, tested it to make sure everything was A-Ok, and it's been running beautifully ever since. I'm a resident in Austin, TX, I know everyone gets different results based on how far away they are from a server, but I get the speeds i'm promised and then some, I have yet to have to power down my modem and reset anything. The ISP provider is Earthlink through Time Warner. I'm sorry I ever switched. Pick AT&T and you'll be talking t... Read more

Wed Jul 01 2009Road Runner is a colossal waste of a technology. Why would you go through all the effort of cable lines, modems, high speed and barely break 56k speeds? Just seems like a lot of overhead for very little returns. The internet is down AT LEAST every other day for 30 minutes to 6+ hours. I'm only home and awake 4-5 hours a day!! When you finally do get through to "Mike" in India for tech support he just says wait, reboot router, cable modem, pray, etc and keep you on the line for 45 minutes, then it starts working on its own and you can hear the Benny Hill music playing as he skedaddles off the phone. And if they do happen to send a crew out to fix cables or whatever, they use a lot of duct tape, bailing wire and chewing to get it going just good enough for them to leave. The last guy was so stoned he left a huge spool of coaxial cable. Still got it, called and told "Mike" about it, but he didn't seem to care. Absolutely the worst mistake I made was moving somewhere that only had T... Read more

Tue Jun 30 2009Time Warner Road Runner internet service is the WORST I have encountered. It is SLOWER than my dial-up was. We call it "Road Crawler" instead of Road Runner. I have had many problems with it such as being unable to access my email, being unable to access the breakdown of my long distance calls on line, and a variety of other problems that just keep popping up from time to time. Unfortunately, we signed a two year contract for cable, internet and phone. They don't even send you a hard copy of your long distance calls. How do I KNOW they are not over-charging me for calls when I can't obtain the break down of long distance calls on line because they either change the address for it and don't notify you of the address change, or my computer warns me that that site could cause problems for my computer and NOT to enter it? As far as the cable is concerned, how can you watch a program when the voice goes out or the picture turns into a bunch of little squares and the squares keep c... Read more

Tue Feb 10 2009Citizens in the North Carolina regions, I urge you to NOT purchase RoadRunner services. I have had this service for 3 years. $40-60 a month is not worth the current condition of the service these people provide. The connection speed is generally about 70% of what is offered. I am supposed to have about 8 MBPS and never clock higher than 6750 KBPS. Often times the service is down. At least once a day and the time down can range from 1 minute to 5 or more hours. The upload speed is also horrible. 375 KBPS is just.. Unacceptable! Not only that but they do not support Net Neutrality. I don't know about you, but I want my freedom to browse, game, and do business online! The horrible Tech Support they "provide" is incapable of fixing any problems. I've been calling them for well over 6 months to get the internet that I pay for stabilized. All-In-All, 6 MBPS with a downtime of 20% is horrible. People, get Dial-Up instead. It's far more stable. Slower, but stable. [I support Net Neutrali... Read more

Wed Oct 08 2008Wow look at all the Road Runner/Time Warner issues! Random disconnections throughout the day everyday. SLOW speeds for the price. Their call center wait times are terrible. If you have the luxury of **CHOICE** with your internet provider, pick something else. Road Runner is such a headache for people who work at home/game/download/use the internet at all.

Tue Sep 30 2008Road Runner is an oxy moron. There are many times when it is slow. And at least once a month when we cannot connect at all. This last period of time....we had no service from 9/19/08 to 9/22/08. No one can come out until 9/23/08. Made me pick up a new modom at their office. That did nothing. It's now, very mysteriously, working. They do one of two things. Hope that it the service is back on so they won't have to send out a tech or they are PURPOSELY limiting our time on line. Either way.........ROAD RUNNER SUCKS. We had Adelphia cable internet for years with no problem. Since there is a monopoly...we have NO CHOICE. Another small way the consumer is being screwed in this economy. I really give Road Runner 0 stars but it's making me choose at least one star.

Sun Sep 28 2008Tech support not trained in network support. They do not even know what a hardware firewall is. Very bad security policies will expose your computer to hackers! Do not bother calling support not worth the hours on hold.

Sun Sep 07 2008BE PREPARED When I signed up for 'The best of the best" or all 3 services phone ,TV and Internet I was not told it would take 10 days to get phone service. We just moved and it makes it difficult for us. Yes , we have cells but we needed to have a home number for other reasons. Supposedly it's SPRINT that can't provide a phone number. Sprint through Time Warner. Internet works good SO FAR.

Mon Sep 01 2008Horrific. 60% of the time I'm using the Internet (TW RoadRunner SoCal), I feel like I want to upgrade to dial-up/56K. It's running at a crawl most of the time. Pages won't load, hit refresh 10 times, "Loading" for 5 minutes, then you get a Timeout/page load error. Can't ping anything. I've had RoadRunner for 5 years. Family hasn't upgraded. Connection drops dead every other day for 30mins to several hours. Hope to get DSL and pray that Verizon FiOS will expand their coverage wipe out the "competition." Not worth $50 a month, maybe $15 a month is a more reasonable price for what you have to deal with.

Wed Aug 27 2008OK I'm also stuck with TW/RR the worst Internet I have ever used! I think they try to guess who is using torrents, if your always downloading ...must be on a torrent...throttle back! Then if you call in 45 to 50 minutes later they transfer you to the next tier of support. You end up after 1 1/2 hours on tier 3 where they tell you nothing is WRONG! So then I say all the people around me have the same problem? Then the brain dead person on the phone tells me maybe it's my modem? (it's the junk modem from them they make me use!) Then I tell them again ...it's not just me it's all of us? They tell me again it's MY MODEM! Then I say ... OK so my DAM MODEM RUNS ALL OF COSTA MESA? YOU BRAIN DEAD J/A! They throttle for gaming? is it that they are soooooo stupid they think gaming is torrenting? If you can use anyone else DON'T USE TW/RR! ...My speeds 100/kbs down 12/kbs up (when they throttle) I pay for 10,000/kbs 1,000/kbs, and it does hit that speed until you try to use it!

Wed Jul 23 2008Roadrunner randomly dies and you have to call them to ask what the hell is going on. After a few minutes of their crap (asking what computer you use, Windows or Mac, etc) they finally ask for your router number, and then seconds later your internet works! I've been using Roadrunner since November 2004, and I've had to go through this AT LEAST every month. I'd switch but there is no other ISP that provides internet here.

Sun Apr 13 2008RoadRunner is horrible for what you pay, and for those of us in Charlotte, NC, it's really our only choice. Websites load fairly quickly, but when downloading anything the average speed is no better than dial-up. Also, the service regularly drops and I have to restart my router - at least 4 - 5 times a week. I haven't contacted TWC to complain as it doesn't seem to matter, but here's the irony - they just spent ??? millions per year to gain the naming rights to our new uptown arena. Maybe they should be spending that money on improving their actual product.

Fri Mar 28 2008Well, the fact that Road Runner (A.K.A. Timer Warner) was on board with the idea of not supporting Net Neutrality really pi**ed me off nice and good. However, what really got me nice and mad, was the fact that they actually want to make customers pay a fee for how much bandwidth they use every month. They're already implementing this somewhere in Texas as a,"Test.". However, I'm sure they're get their greedy lil a**es to make everyone else have to do the same thing sooner or later. What do I rate Road Runner? Ha. Well, I give it a two at the very least. Connections good and stable most of the time, but their ideal of business and giving their customers a good deal... Well, that policy of theirs is total bullshit. In fact, so much that I just may consider switching to a new ISP should Road Runner consider making me pay a fee for using bandwidth. Yep, so whomever controls the tube gets to set forth the policies for it, right? Well, all I can say is that that's bad business and you're ... Read more

Wed Jan 16 2008I use (or tolerate) Road Runner in the metro Charlotte NC area and the absolutely SUCK. The connect speed, both upload and down, is 1/10 what you would expect from a cable provider. Check out http://www.dslreports.com/stest and check for yourself. Not only does their network SUCK, their customer service and billing SUCK. Even AFTER pissing me off over their crappy broadband service, these guys actually messed up my credit rating over a crappy $69 TV box. If you have ANY choice at all, don't do business with Time Warner Cable. They SUCK.
