Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

I think this webcam deserve too much hypes from the consumer... I guess it's because it's the "best" one available in the market today, hence it's consider good. My two cents: It works VERY CLEAR in the day time and whenever there are good amount of lights... But once it is dark, the webcam will will do an autofocus which will adjust few things on the setting and the frame rate will drop to 6 FPS. Basically, in the daylight, the webcam run at 30 FPS at very crisp and clear. But when there are no more light, the webcam will adjust the setting to make the picture clear, but in the process of making the picture clear, the frame rate drops really bad. But it is still better than not seeing anything at all like all other webcam. Here's the live feed flash streaming that I use this webcam to watch my dog. This webcam is AWESOME... I use it with skype and msn live messenger and it works GREAT!! i love it! :)

Logitech Webcam software corrupted my Windows XP installation. 6 hours later and I'm finally back up and running again. Needless to say this POS is going back !!! I never found out if the camera is good or if it even works at all.

"UPDATE"...Perhaps this review and the current update will help others, however, the original review was yesterday and now this update continues with my progress overnight...I did get the camera up and running and would change the rating to a 4 out of 5 stars but I cannot change the stars via this edit...I ended up going to the "Logitech" site and dowloading the current drivers. I only loaded the drivers and did not use the disk that came with the camera. With just the drivers loaded I went directly to "Skype" and it works great. No glitches or problems in my first online event with this camera. I did change the mike default on "Skpye" to get the audio to acknowledge using the Logitech 9000's mike but beyond that, I had absolutely no problems...I still got the error "1719" but gave up fiddling with it anymore thinking that if it's working, why risk more grief just to get their software working...the driver download from the Logitech site did the trick! I have been using it for more than one month now. Amazing clarity and colors. No need to change any setting. Right Lite technology and autofocus works well. It is pricey compared to other cams but there is no comparison. This is the best webcam available at this time. also, it works with MAC OS X (10.4 and above). MAC USERS can use vision pro for mac but this one is fine too. Both Pro 9000 and Vision Pro for mac will work only with ichat. THEY (BOTH) WILL NOT WORK WITH YAHOO MESSENGER IF YOU HAVE BUILT IN ISIGHT CAMERA.
