 | MervinDePervin (0) 09/27/2008 | One of the greatest animated comedies of all time. No topic remains untouched and with each passing season a an entirely unique cornucopia of ideas is exploded onto the screen. From trying to sell aborted fetuses as shrimp, catching shuriken in the eye, shitting out of your mouth or watching the most prominent religious figures come together to battle a giant John Wilkes Booth this series has it all. As a side note, those that have rated low based on misconceptions about the target audience, it is a teen/ adult comedy. Just because something is animated doesn't mean it has to be for children. Those that rate it low because it is "blasphemous", you are the narrow minded sheepish reason that they write episodes on religion. Wake up and smell the giant steaming pile of lies, religion is bullshit and your feeble mind can't comprehend the comedy present in South Park because it doesn't tell you that Santa Jesus is bringing presents when you die.

 | oldiesmusicfan101 (10) 08/21/2008 | If you can see past the bad animation, the crudeness, the supposed stupidness, and anything else I'm missing, this is actually a very smart show. Makes fun of anything and everything, takes no prisoners and takes no sides. Just a sample of what it takes shots at are Christians, Jews, Fascists, Non smoking organizations, whites, Indians (or First Nations), the government and celeberties. It might make fun of conservatives one episode only to make fun of liberals the next, somehow has stayed fairly original throughout 7 (is it more?) seasons. Not for everyone, but a smart, funny series overall.

 | Spike65 (17) 07/15/2008 | Obnoxious and funny. Watch it long enough and they'll skewer all of us. I didn't care for the Mel Gibson episode much. And I wish they didn't bash Christians so often. Unfortunately all too popular with kids that are too young to watch it. For college age and older please. The movie version was just too crude for words.

 | Bawls (0) 06/24/2007 | This show is an utter classic that has countless jokes that may be only described as GENIOUS! Whenever South Park makes fun of someone or something, it's almost always dead-on and hilarious. From Al Gore as a lonely guy trying to make friends to Paris Hilton as the "Stupid spoiled Whore." The fact that the show has made it to 11 seasons is astonishing, but how it's remained fresh and funny is a great achievement. So, salute Matt and Trey for the greatest TV series EVER and just watch it!

 | Ben999 (10) 02/11/2007 | Great show but it's not for everyone. There are no bounderies with this show. I'll admit some episodes seem to cross the line (5 year old cancer patient that dies at the end of the episode because his hockey team loses a game) but most of the shows make fun of people that should be made fun of ex. Paris Hilton, Tom Cruise.

 | SiamTor (0) 10/29/2005 | Very funny show that fears nothing ... takes on all topics and personalities as fair game. The new season starts next week and they're signed up for 3 more years, so something to look forward to in these times of mostly dreadful programs. "Screw you guys, I'm goin' home" ... priceless! Try these 5 episodes, just off the top of my head, and if you don't find these hilarious and poignant, then South Park just isn't for you:
1) Michael Jackson moves to South Park (I'm Peter Pan, hee hee, Shimona) ... and the local police don't like it.
2) Butters falls for a "Raisins" Girl but she's only interested in one thing, and it 'aint love ... and Stan becomes a Goth, for lack of love.
3) Cartman and Jimmy both enter the Special Olympics, Cartman as a mentally retarded boy and Jimmy all jacked up on steroids, to win the monetary first prize. Hmmmm, sound familiar?
4) Jimmy and Timmy, the 2 "crippled" boys, join a local gang to be with their own, unfortunately it's the "Crips". Talk about mistaken identity.
5) Telepsychic John Edwards is found out to be "The Biggest Douche in the Universe", oh yeah, and he can't read minds.
Very insightful stuff and these guys sometimes write an episode the same week it airs so it's always current and fresh ... and Kenny always dies.

 | Wolves_R_Cool (0) 10/19/2005 | probably the only thing worth watching on Comedy Central. it follows the adventures of four foul-mouthed boys living in a small town in Colorado called (what else?) South Park. Everything from anal probes, giant monsters and robots attacking, and violence galore can be found in South Park. Cartman is the funniest of the characters because of all the things he does. the show is not afraid to offend anyone which makes it interesting.

 | andillus (0) 02/09/2005 | It's a very brilliant, hilarious show. Everyone who says it's just a vulger, childish show obviously doesn't understand the various social/political undertones that are involved in almost every episode. Maybe if they looked beyond all the fart and fat jokes, they might see something far more intelligent.

 | sfalconer (22) 02/09/2005 | South Park goes where other shows would never think of even going near. No subject is taboo and the show says what we all think. The fact that wisdom comes from little kids is what gives the show its appeal and it edge comes from the constant stream of bleaps. The show would not be as funny with out the bleeps, the movie proved that.

 | Skizero (15) 02/09/2005 | briliant but uneven comedy. obviously past its prime. i've seen some episodes now that have been very scathing and humerous, and quite a few lately that have bombed. when Matt and Trey are specific in their target the comedy usually work. when attacking a flavor or the month, not so much.

 | The Slacker (0) 12/23/2004 | After reading all of the comments, excluding classictvfan of course, I still think this is a good natured show that makes fun of everything. The characters are so true to life makes it more enjoyable, the plot is funny and usually what a real kid would do(example: the episode where they get the weapons and go off in there little world), the cursing is also very realistic, and making fun of famous people are the best episodes. Really a great show.

 | SpecialboothvicJr. (10) 12/14/2004 | Really overrated. A lot of the jokes are very cruel. And usually they like to make fun of god. They make fun of a lot of people from other countries. One of the ads was funny, what the Asian guy said. But still, their cruel. They swear so much I hate it. I just wish that they will stop being so cruel, well this is Comedy Central. But this show isn't nice at all. Deny this show everyone, it's not a real promising show.

 | pennypingleton (0) 11/13/2004 | This is by far one of the greatest TV shows ever made! The edgy humor makes it one of the funniest things on television- to those of us who like to watch episodes about cartoon characters cussing, fighting off evil trapper keepers, and seeing one of their friends die over a hundred times, of course. I can watch each one over and over again! All the characters are hilarious and it never gets old to watch them. The jokes in the show are really funny too.

The one thing that will always make me laugh is when cartman goes off on a swearing rant. Kenny really does nothing for me, but I think if he weren't there it just wouldn't be the same. This show is so great we have a couple of guys in our town that have a huge group of people over every night its on and basically we ask each other, hey you goin' to South Park tonight. It's a blast. Negative language brings people together!

 | platypus (0) 08/22/2004 | i noticed that lots of people who ranked it a one have never even seen the show and has only heard about it. south park is hilarious and if you actually sat down, watched an episode (like the one about immigrants from the future), and thought about it, you'd realize that there's a political or social point made in each episode. sure, parts of the episode includes naked guys humping, but as a whole, it discusses an important point.

 | Pearly (0) 08/03/2004 | I love South Park. I'm a huge fan! But I can't help but agree with some critics that it is childish, immature, blah blah blah, but that's what makes it funny. It does have some morals; I've realized at the end of almost every show one of the kids goes: I've learned something today (blah blah). It depends who you are really. Sometimes I explode with laughter, sometimes I blush at how stupid or vulgar things get, but I can sum it up: It's definently not for everyone, but everyone can get a kick out of something from it. (Unless of course, your one of those people that believes comedy does not include racist, immature, fart jokes etc.) I could go on forever about how it's just foul animation (May I mention that when they started using computer animation, they wanted to keep the crappy construction-paper look) that curses alot and is extremely high in entertainment for some of us, and has 'some' morals, depending on how you look at it, but I've got other things to do.
By the way: I'm 13, have both parents, and have siblings. My 24 year old sister, 10 year old sister, and 3 month old niece watch it with me, and crack up as much as I do.

 | lemonguy (0) 07/29/2004 | I liked it up to the point when the animation got good part of the originality of the show was it's crappy-looking animation. Also, there has been WAY too much Butters and Cartman has become even more a Jackass.

 | Ms Skinner (0) 07/29/2004 | This show is the worst thing i have ever watched. Crappy story plots and obscenities, with Kenny getting killed in every episode. I dont see any humour in this show, and it is the worst thing to be compared with The Simpsons, which is actually funny, and teaches us a thing or two along the way. What a sick minded show. I'm sorry to all those die-hard South Park fans, but it is just blasphemous. And if you're thinking i'm some old coot which thinks kids nowadays are being taught the wrong thing, I'm only thirteen and I REALLY hate South Park. Rotten show and a shame to be compared to the Simpsons. And if you like Simpsons and South Park...well i have no comment for that. Sorry if i seem really mean, and may I add that this is DEFINITELY not for little kids. The only time I would ever actually EVER consider watching this would be if I was in THAT mood, but give me The Simpsons any day.

 | ClassicTVFan47 (38) 06/26/2004 | It is truly amazing how many terrible, awful, completely useless shows air on Comedy Central. There's the racist Chappelle's Show, the awful Mad TV, the mean-natured Crank Yankers, the droves of talentless and uncreative stand-up comedians and the stupidious Shorties Watching Shorties. And, then there's the worst of the bunch, South Park. Created by enemies of the state Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show is absoutely terrible. How on Earth this show has managed to cling to the airwaves so long when a great show like Tokyo Pig gets cancelled after ONLY NINE MONTHS simply boggles the mind! The animation is absouletly the worst animation that I have ever seen. It is cheap-looking, very basic and not fluid in the slightest. The voice acting, mostly done by Parker and Stone themsevles, is equally awful. And, then, there's the writing. Filled with senseless violence, a copious amount of obscenities, mean-naturedness and more, it a wonder that the show even has any fans. The so-called satire that the show does is just plain stupid and pales in comparison to the satire done on The Simpsons. This awful show is the prime example of just how bad Comedy Central is.

 | cooljda (1) 06/18/2004 | This show is funny and original. However I don't think this show targets children. Children have the ability to choose what they watch, and parents have the ability to supervise what their children watch. This show is put on really late to make sure that children can't watch this. That is why I think it doesn't target children.
