 | irishgit (161) 08/02/2008 | The Pardoner is one of the five characters in the Canterbury Tales who is beyond redemption. A corrupt, venal and wicked man, lost to human sensibilities, he tells one of the best tales in the cycle, that of three young men who go in search of Death.
The exchanges between the Pardoner and the Host that take place before and after, and the unintentional preaching that he slips into at the end of his tale are very revealing of his character, and utterly intriguing.
