08/15/2008 | A magnificent creation, borrowed from a character in the 19th century novel "Tom Brown's Schooldays" and fleshed out in a fine series of historical novels by George MacDonald Fraser.
A skulking, drunkard, bully, coward and lecher, young Harry joins the British Army and manages to be present at most of the great events of the latter half of the 19th Century.
Well written, well defined character, thoroughly appalling, and utterly enchanting.
