Why the hell is McCain's name on this title in the first place, this is the age old attempt by Obama and Liberal Democrats to use "boogie men" to cover up their ineptness, and to advance their socialist agenda. Do we want to give the government more power to dictate how much money American's make? How much is a Winfall anyway? The stupidity of this plan tells me that Stuttering Obama has no plan, just take other peoples money. The fact that Obama had the balls to even purpose this proves that he ranks Americans high on the stupid meter.

Whether it's McCain, Hillary or Obama talking about a windfall profits tax on oil companies doesn't matter, it's just as wrong and ignorant. The oil companies are not enjoying a windfall, their profit margins have not changed substantially and (incredible that I need to remind Americans of this) the government doesn't "own" their profits. The windfall profit has been taken by the state and federal govenrments in the form of astronomically high tax revenues (for doing less than nothing in representing the people who elected them) while the oil companies have profited from a spike in their price structure.

How on earth is the government, spending so irresponsibly and in record volumes, somehow entitled to "take" those profits? And they'll use it for what? Helping ordinary Americans. Right. Someone remind me how often they've done that in the past.

America, your government is corrupt and dysfunctional. Anyone want to debate that point? Need an example or two. If the dopey rhetoric of this campaign teaches you nothing, it should teach you that. Nearly 30% of Americans own stock in oil companies in some form. Some rely on their dividends for their retirement. The government should take their profits away? Why don't we just have the government take over the oil companies, wouldn't that be less trouble. A little fascism might help the situation. Or, would that be liberalism?

This one could hurt him given Exxon's record profit this last quarter when the oil companies were supposedly suffering from high overhead to justify the gouging. Obama hit hard on the issue in an ad beginning this morning. We'll see how it plays out.
