It's not technically a flip-flop, but really a sidestep.
Obama was asked to weigh in on the D.C. gun case on different occasions and he regularly maintained that the Second Amendment provides an qualified individual right which does not prevent local governments from enacting what Obama calls "common sense laws." It's pretty vague and difficult to pin him down on any particular laws.
