awesome,best thing ever invented......i skateboard everyday(allday) for about a year and a half,just got my first sponsor its not just a "hobby" its a craft and way of life.so dont hate a skater,unless they are mongo or a poser....haha

i agree, skateboarding is a lifestyle, and i skate, play football, and dirtbike, and i got hurt a lot more skating then football, dirtbiking mostly but thats because your flying, so skating isnt for pussys, and try it out anyway, once you land your first kickflip, you get so happy and it only gets better and more fun and you meet more and more people and you dress a certain way, making it a lifetyle

Alright, I've heard enough of everyone hatin' on skateboarding. I'm gonna set the record straight. Skateboarding is a more of a lifestyle and less of a sport. Yeah, it's dangerous, but that's a risk you take. Have you ever noticed all other sports like basketball and football are dangerous? No were not too scared to play team sports, I know countless skaters that play team sports. It's not a hobby, like I said, it's a lifestyle. CanadaSucks, I agree there arent enough spots to skate, but you can always make up for it. Lots of skaters skate the worst places because we can make it skateable with homemade obstacles or smooth it out with plywood. AND NO ITS NOT RETARDED!!!!!!!!! Thats all I have to say. sk8r4life!

great sport, i love it. it's different than every other sport. every other sport you have to mimic somebody else to achieve greatness. In skating you pretty much carve your own path, you have your own style. it is so much fun to step on a board and start moving, people just dont understand. skatboarding is such a unique sport, and i dont think it is overated, if anything people underate it. and PBeavr, how can you compare table tennis with skateboarding, table tennis is so confined to a small place. But your other comparison - i think skating is as good as sex, it feels so great when you land the trick youve wanted to land all day.

I wince when I see people skateboaring on the streets, without any safety gear or regard to clearly-designed NO SKATING signs. This sport is just asking for trouble, with a danger factor even higher than boxing. Its not fun to watch on TV either. At one time, the video games were fun, in the early years of the Tony Hawk series (1-3). Now, however, the series has gotten too realistic and plot-driven for its own good. The Disney skateboarding video gaming titles are great, though.

skateboarding is cool, but im taking off a star for all the stupid little grommets who hang out and try and look tough at the skatepark, but never do anything other than piss-poor kickflip attempts then go back and sit down again

Skateboarding is a sport for scared white kids who don't have the courage to play sports that have a team concept and/or minorities. Yes, it takes skill. Yes, it takes practice...but please stop trying to sell it as a sport. I do feel bad for skateboarders for one reason- I hate the fact that many parks I see have "no skateboarding" signs. I think this hobby is retarded but I don't think it's fair that there are so few places where people can skateboard.

I skate nearly every day. I am also a varsity basketball player at my high school, so it's not like I'm the stereotypical jock-hating skater punk, and I will tell you that skating is probably one of the hardest activities that someone could undertake. I don't think it is a "sport", and it doesn't want to be considered a "sport". I think it is much more than a sport. The way that the pros today skate (it's Chad Muska, by the way Freak) have elevated skating to a real art form. And if you let a little injury keep you from skating, then you were never a real skater anyway. To bemoan skaters because they have a propensity to recieve injuries is like saying football's not a sport because players suffer injuries; they are a part of the game, and the truly dedicated skate through them.

dude....i'm no skater but jesus...that has got to be one of the most challenging sports out there.anyone who thinks there's any sport in rollerblading has got to be slapped...why is that on tv....skateboarding is one of the most daring(sane)sports i've ever had the priveledge to sit down with my bong and comprehend(is that how u spell that?)anywho...i live in a place where the skaters get hasselled more than the minorities and homeless lol )

Some sport. The real skateboarders never even get recognized...only the morons like Cad Muskrat or whatever the heck his name is who don't have a clue as to what they are doing. I'm not some huge safety advocate, but I will not be surprised at all when he busts his head open. I have vowed never to go within ten feet of a skateboard again after the little spill I took off one last year...ended up nearly breaking my wrist. My point? I don't consider skateboarding a sport! Skateboarding is one of the funnest, if not the most fun, sports invented. Skateboarding takes a lot of detication and hard work...no one can just get on a skateboard for the first time and expect to do any hard tricks. Skating teaches patience, practice and devotion. One most be really determined and motivated in order to become really good at skateboarding. It is not only a confidence builder, but it is a great form of exercise, believe-it-or-not. It builds up your physical strength and helps you stay fit. Also, a lot of pro skaters inspire kids to skate and lead healthy lives. And a lot of pro skaters are heroes in the eyes of a lot of kids...they serve as good role models and people to look up to. Anyways, a really fun thing to do and a great way to relax and be free...I an millions of other people know these simple facts...we are skaters.
